Qigong, "energy work," is an ancient system of gentle exercises, breathing techniques, and meditation from China. Qigong practice can improve health and vitality, make the mind tranquil, and deepen your connection with nature. Qigong is the most scientifically proven method of complementary medicine. It can help you resist stress and maintain a high level of positive energy. There are many styles of qigong. Many people consider Yi Quan ("Mindfulness Healing and Martial Art") the most important of them all, as it trains students in the vocabulary on which all qigong is built-- how to stand and move with balance, power, and grace. In this seminar, you will learn a complete wellness workout, including

  • Yi Quan Standing Meditation to improve posture and breathing and increase the body's reserve of healing energy.
  • Yi Quan Walking to improve balance and coordination and to find stillness within movement. Find out how to use Yi Quan Walking to dramatically improve performance in basketball, golf, Tai Chi, or any other sport.
  • Shi Li (Experimenting with Energy), simple movement patterns that dissolve tension and improve the flow of qi (vital energy) through the whole body.
  • Yi Quan Partner Training: how to create resilient power and resist injury from accidents, falls, or athletic training.
  • Yi Quan Meditation: healing imagery to for relaxation, inner peace, and to link with the energy of the universe.

Experiential exercises will be complemented by discussion of qigong principles and philosophy, connections to Yoga and other disciplines,  and entertaining stories of the early Yi Quan Masters. The program is open to beginners and all levels.
